CD REVIEWS
Pantheon – Dead Or Alive
First of all I must apologise to these guys. I have had this CD since November last year, maybe a little longer, but with me moving house I had lost this CD and thought I would never review it. Well it was found and at last a review has surfaced.
What you have here is five guys from York playing thrash metal, but not straight forward thrash. The first track is their title track “Dead or Alive” with some good guitar work and the drumming is quite fast in places. The vocals aren’t as strong as I would like it to be but it is not bad by any means. I also like the slow guitar in the middle and the cymbals in that bit seems to work well
“Diamond Mine” up next and starts with a very classic heavy metal feel. Again the vocals are consistent and the guitar work is good; some good solos in there. Very different from the first song and is also a good tune. Again there is something different with a good intro kicking of the song “Shrapnel”. There is a sort of early maiden feel to this. The last song is my favourite with “Arena of Invasion.” This is one song I feel would go down well live at gigs and people going mental to in a pit.
As I aid before the vocals aren’t very strong but they do work for the band especially for the last song “Arena of Invasion” but they are consistent throughout the entire CD. Also with me not being a guitar player I can’t go into details on how good the guitars are but trust me they are good. I am, looking forward to hearing what they guy can offer live and if you want something a bit different then check Pantheon out. You won’t be disappointed
