Let Em Burn - Second Wave
Here’s the story so far; a bunch of seasoned musicians get together and vent anger of scene kids and the likes. Having had one too many beers, one guy, fuelled with rage, vehemently throws his arm in the air and declares war! War on what, exactly, I’m not sure. But war nonetheless. And so they formed a military unit and began a gruelling training regime (in other words, they went into the studio, drank some beer and recorded some songs) and erm…yea, here we are! The second demo from Let Em Burn.
The first demo was a good, solid effort, and showed that the experience of the guys each being in previous other bands really makes a lot of difference. Second Wave is something of an improvement. The three songs here are catchier and leave a lasting impression, with “War Slut” being one of those tracks that will have you shouting along to during the chorus. Along with “Trenchfoot Terrance” this shows that the band had as much of a laugh writing the lyrics as they did at FTA (yes, we’ve seen the videos!!!)
Overall this demo carries a crunchy, bass heavy sound and demonstrates the proficiency of these musicians. They mix together their thrash influences including their vociferous adoration of East coast thrashers Overkill, mixing it up with a classic metal sound. One thing that is notably different from the first demo is the new vocalist, who is also known as the frontman in Gore and his aggressive and raspy yell is enough to make the enemy run for cover. It’s about time somebody signed these up!
