Nailed, Root Khnem and Skull Branded Pirates
The Snooty Fox, 24th Jan 2008
Went to the Snooty Fox 24th Jan to see Nailed who were promoted to headliners as Morket didn’t turn up. Great Rock venue although not that many in but I don't think playing death metal in Wakefield will ever make a band rich. First on were the very colourful and jolly Skull Branded Pirates who play metal dressed as pirates. They have a great rock sound and all looked to be enjoying themselves. They all had a talent for playing there stuff with the vocalist taking the image all the way. Very entertaining if you like pirates which I don't.
Root Khnem were up next; a very young band. I bet they haven't done many gigs some of them looked very nervous with not a lot of stage presence and seeming like they just wanted to huddle up in a scrum. But the sounds that came out of the lads was quite strong. Great guitaring, superb drumming which pushed them forward and the vocals were a strong growling. They need to take it a bit more seriously though.
Nailed were polished and it was great to see two lads having a go at the growling makes it good to listen to and watch these lads can play and they have been around a bit but still performing in your home town to a few people they don't seem to be moving on much then again you don't make fortunes playing death metal. Good band. If you like this genre then go see them.
